For Theatres

Tallescope (Safe use of Tallescopes)

The ABTT and HSE have produced safe working methods for the use of Tallescopes.

2014 Code of practice for use of Tallescopes for working at height in theatres

These require:

  • Four outriggers
  • Four push-pull posts
  • Four non-lift castors

It is also explicitly stated to be essential that personnel using Tallescopes have completed Tallescope Training.

Our Safe Use of Tallescopes training course is a practical course to bring candidates up to speed with ABTT guidelines and teach safe procedure when using a Tallescope.

We often run this alongside our Tallescope Rescue training course as combined training.

Who should attend?

The course is designed for anyone required to use Tallescopes in the theatre and production environment. Candidates are required to bring their own Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and Fall Protection Equipment (FPE) to the training session.

What will they learn?

Candidates will develop the skills and knowledge to assemble, perform pre-use checks on, and use Tallescopes. They will gain an understanding of relevant legislation.

Please Note: We cannot teach candidates to safely move an occupied Tallescope if your venue has a raked stage.
