Paediatric First Aid (for Chaperones)

The course is recommended by the NCMA (The National Child Minding Association) and the PLA (Preschool learning alliance).  All employers have a legal duty under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations to make First Aid provisions within their workplace, and this course will ensure you meet that duty.

Who should attend?

First aid courses of this type are suitable for anyone who has been nominated as a chaperone to work with children under 16 years of age.

What will they learn?

An awareness of likely First Aid situations which may occur when looking after children and an appropriate way of dealing with them successfully.The course will place your staff in a position where they have peace of mind that they are competent to deal with a problem should it arise.

Pre-requisites

Our courses offer a practical, hands-on approach that delivers the skills and confidence to use first aid skills in a real life situation. Learners must:

  • be physically able to carry out the practical element of the course
  • attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.

Course content

  • Insight into regulations
  • CPR (children)
  • Choking
  • Anaphylaxis (including use of epi-pens)
  • Resuscitation
  • Croup
  • Shock
  • Bandaging
  • Record keeping

Certificate

All participants will obtain a certificate accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) in Paediatric First Aid which is valid for 3 years and awarded on successful completion of the course.
