Well, after months of hard work, focus group meetings, hours writting lesson plans, graphic designer input, RB’s team pulling together, filming and design of board games, manuals and exrcises, and everything else I have forgotten, the time is finally here.
As you will have probably read in my previous blogs, we have been developing the first ever “IOSH Managing Safely for Theatre and Production” course, which has been designed with Cameron Mackintosh Limited and the great help and support from Delfont Mackintosh Theatres. At the recent ABTT trade show it was given a special mention and 2 weeks ago it was given a page spread in the Stage Newspaper. I have attached some of the artwork used throughout the course to this blog to give you an idea of how uniqe the training really is.
Well, the official launch date has been announced and we will be holding a launch party on Wednesday 7th Sept at the Prince of Wales Theatre in Londons west end (where Mumma Mia is playing). At the launch we will be demonstrating some of the games and lessons as well as offering the guests a chance to run this ground breaking course for their theatre staff at a discounted rate.
The event has been the talking point amoung theatre safety professionals and we are excited to announce that we will have talks from 2 people who are well known and respected in health and safety and theatreland.
There has been a lot of media interest in the event and a number of the UK;s leading theatre companies, trade magazines, drama colleges, theatre producers / owners and unions will be attending to see the final product.
After the event the course is being run for both Delfont Mackintosh Theatre and Cameron Mackintosh Limited staff to ensure the safety of staff at prestigious shows such as Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. We will also be taking other bookings to run this exciting new course and as our consultancy manager would say “we look forward to bringing common sense to health and safety”.
